About Coventry House International – OnTESOL

We are the first accredited online TESOL institute in Canada and the first online TESOL institute in the world to offer a supervised in-class Practicum module!

Coventry House InternationalCoventry House International has been in the Teacher Training field since 1988 with the objective of delivering the highest standards of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) education. Organizations such as Trinity College London, TESL Canada, and ACTDEC have recognized and accredited Coventry House International TESOL courses over the years.

OnTESOLOnTESOL is an off-spring of Coventry House International and is the result of its members’ goal to contribute to education in general and, more specifically, to TESOL in an online format. All the online courses offered by OnTESOL were designed to meet the highest standards and be eligible for TESL Canada accreditation. TESL Canada has recognized our online courses since 2003.

Over the years, OnTESOL has raised the bar of the TESOL / TEFL / TESL industry by perfecting the Communicative Language Teaching method. We are also one of the few institutes that provides graduates with the opportunity of completing a Practicum module after the online course! Our best online courses are the Advanced 120-hour TESOL Certificate, which is academically equivalent to CELTA, and the 250-hour TESOL Diploma, which is a great example of how an online program can offer much better training than an in-class course.

About the OnTESOL Method:

(Recognized by TESL Canada and ACTDEC UK)

Our mission is to provide trainees with the tools they need to become reflective and independent teachers. The Communicative Language Teaching method is at the core of our TESOL / TEFL courses. OnTESOL will help you obtain a professional teaching job anywhere in the world thanks to the exceptional lesson planning and teaching skills that you will acquire with us.

These are 5 concepts you will learn to master of with a TESOL / TEFL certification course offered by OnTESOL:
1. Integrated Skills

Attempts to communicate should be encouraged from the very beginning. OnTESOL will teach you how to integrate grammar and vocabulary lessons with the development of the four macroskills — speaking, listening, reading and writing –.

2. Meaning is Paramount

Teaching grammar is a very important part of an ESL class, but writing grammar rules on the board for the students to memorize is ineffective. A grammatical structure may have different meanings and, more importantly, natural language acquisition processes require students to be exposed to memorable real life situations. All our courses include a comprehensive grammar module and prepare trainees to write at least one communicative grammar lesson plan.

3. Teaching in Context

Contextualization is a basic premise of the OnTESOL method because meaning cannot be understood out of context. An accredited course by OnTESOL will teach you how to be creative when presenting a grammar point and it will teach you how to use communicative activities for students to practice the newly acquired language point.

4. Using Authentic Material

What do your favourite movie and song have in common? Grammar! OnTESOL will teach you how to use songs, movies, TV shows, newspaper articles, games, and online media to integrate grammar and vocabulary lessons with speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills.

5. Lesson Planning

Lessons planning skills are at the core of an effective curriculum. ESL textbooks are usually ineffective because topics are outdated and activities do not relate to the context that students use when communicating in English. OnTESOL will teach you how to use various lesson planning formats and approaches so that you can create memorable lessons for your students.

250-hour TESOL Diploma
I found this online course to be incredibly helpful. I liked the fact that it was so hands on and that it gave me so much practice with designing different kinds of lesson plans. I also liked the course’s emphasis on grammar and phonology, which are areas of teaching that many TEFL teachers don’t know much about but are extremely important nonetheless.

This course was a pleasure to complete. The content and materials are thoroughly organized and presented, and the feedback from the instructors was a huge help. I currently live and work in Germany, and the certificate I obtained from Ontesol has made a huge impact on the types of positions I’ve been considered for. I am still completing an integration course for citizenship, but once that’s completed I expect to be working full time with a local language school or university. I was a bit frustrated at times with the directions provided for some of the lessons, so I would recommended this course for anyone that can successfully manage their own time. Online learning is fun easy and in some cases better than in person lectures, but it takes diligence and the willingness to hold yourself accountable in order to make the most of the service offered.

I was required to upgrade my TESOL certificate by the director of my previous workplace due to licensing reasons with Languages Canada. At the time I was currently teaching in Vancouver BC, so I did not have the luxury to take time off from work to upgrade by TESOL certificate. I was recommended by Languages Canada to look into OnTesol. At first I was concerned because it was all online however I was totally impressed!! My tutor was awesome and the textbook material was amazing. I printed a hardcopy and keep it as a reference at work. The course was extremely informative and fun. I completed the practicum section as well and found it super interesting to observe other teachers and get a chance to work with a new level in a new environment. I am not tech savvy but since the system is so easy to use I never encountered an issue. Feedback from my TA was excellent and his side notes were amazing. I honestly would have never been able to complete a 120 TESOL course if I had not done it through Ontesol. I would totally recommend this course for anyone in the industry of teaching English.

I thought this was a thorough course. I would recommend it to others. Pros -> Personal tutor -> My personal tutor, Aaron, was an insightful aid and added a personal component to the online course. He responded quickly with well thought out advice. Detailed Lesson Plans -> The lesson plan models were detailed and the structure was well laid out. Cons -> Badly organized -> I found it hard to find things and the user interface to be poorly organized.

My 120-hours OnTESOL course was an effective, efficient, and high-quality expenditure of my time and money. My instructor was easy to communicate with, responsive, and provided in-depth feedback that was entirely specific to my work. I appreciated the time and effort that she put into providing me with feedback. Since completing this certificate, I have had steady work as an ESL instructor at various post-secondary institutions in Canada. I have recommended OnTESOL’s program to my friends and will continue to recommend it to anyone who is interested in TESL certification.

I took OnTesol’s 250 hour course to prepare to teach English abroad. From the very beginning, I was pleased with how many various topics the course covered. Starting with grammar and later getting into different activity types and lesson planning, it was fairly comprehensive dive into what an EFL or ESL teacher needs to know to complete his or her job successfully, and the information was presented in a clear and concise way. I do wish, however, that there had a section on second language acquisition (SLA) theory. Knowing about some of the mechanisms that drive language acquisition and SLA would help teachers to better understand how and why their students might struggle, and thus make them better equipped to help the students. If I had to recommend anything be added to the course, it would be SLA theory. When completing the program, I had a mentor who checked my assignments and answered any other questions I had via email. She was very prompt in replying to any emails I sent her, and the tips that she gave me when checking over my lesson plans especially, as I had never before written a lesson plan, was invaluable. I think being able to access one’s mentor in real time, like over video call, would be very helpful as well, so that might be something to consider for the future. The time period given to complete the course was very generous, and I loved being able to work on as much or as little as I wanted so long as I completed the course within the set time frame. The convenience was one of the main reasons I chose OnTesol’s program in the first place.I never took advantage of the job placement section of the OnTesol site, but as there does not seem to be an option to not score a section, I gave five stars to not drag down the over all rating.Overall, I had a very positive experience with OnTesol’s 250 hour course. I learned a lot about grammar and teaching itself that really helped me to appreciate the complexity of the job that lay before me. My mentor was very kind and helpful, and the convenience of online courses can never be beat! I just hope that in the future OnTesol incorporates more SLA theory into the course and makes conferencing with mentors possible.

I was enrolled in the 120 Hour Tesol certification course, 20 hour practicum and the 20 hour IELTS specialization mini course. All three, without a doubt, exceeded my expectations. As some people may be aware, online certifications (compared to their onsite counterparts) are occasionally frowned upon by certain schools – without a doubt however, the detailed modules, range of course assignments and the know-how of the tutors puts Ontesol as a top certification provider. Despite having worked abroad for some years, there was still a vast amount of valuable information that I gained during every step of the process. From a personal perspective, I would say that the tutors are specifically what make Ontesol amazing though. You have someone there at all times to help you with any and all questions you might have; regardless of the simplicity or complexity of your inquiries, they always provide detailed answers. In one particular case, I asked a specific detailed grammar-related question and not only did my tutor answer my question, they even went as far to provide external resources for my own personal learning. In another instance, I found that my tutor’s constructive criticism was the extra push that I needed to gain more confidence as an instructor. I truly believe that this “going above and beyond” attitude is something that all educators should be striving to achieve – it makes me feel extremely reassured to know that Ontesol, as a certification provider for hundreds of other teachers, also feels the same way!

I made the right choice when I chose to complete a 250 hour diploma program through onTesol. This course, complete with the 3 modules and video resources, was easy to follow along with the tasks and assignments. The tutor that I was provided with was amazing and did not hesitate to answer any of my questions if I was having any trouble. Best of all, I was able to finish this course on my own time so I could do everything to the best of my abilities. As someone who is now teaching English as a second language, I strongly recommend taking this course because it definitely did further my education not only in teaching but in classroom tactics and differentiation.

Ontesol far exceeded my expectations of online education. The course was very rigorous, with plenty of assignments that tested my ability to plan a full lesson. These assignments took me into the classroom so every activity I plan has a communicative purpose.
My tutor sent full explanations on grammar and teaching methods that complemented the material very well and added a very personal touch. After the course, their staff contacted me to guide me with my job search and helped me apply with a couple of companies in China until I got the job. Overall, I give Ontesol 5 stars!

I took the 250 Hour Advanced Diploma. It took me about a year to complete the course work and 3 week to do the 50 hour practicum. The course is demanding and challenging, but in the best possible way. I am deeply with how well I was prepared for entering this field of work. The thorough coverage and practice of lesson planning gave me everything I needed and more. I was exposed to a wide range of brilliant teaching techniques and always encouraged to be creative in thinking up ways to engage students in meaningful activities. I had a wonderfully responsive and patient tutor who provided me with indispensable feedback and guidance. In Canada, both private language schools and LINC programs were satisfied with my credentials and sample lesson plans. I have now landed a full time dream job with a LINC organization.I strongly recommend this program. It gave me both the skills and practice I needed, plus a confidence I didn’t think I could obtain.

After my first year of teaching in Japan, I wanted to widen my pedagogical toolkit and fortify my knowledge of proper grammar. I researched all the other sites offering online certification, but OnTESOL had the best curriculum and support for the price. The material was challenging, my advisers always responded to my questions promptly and graded fairly, and I was immediately able to put my newfound knowledge into practice in my classrooms. The course organization is superb and builds from the foundations upward. It definitely gave my teaching confidence a boost. The OnTESOL 100-hour course was an excellent learning opportunity for what I was looking for, and also allowed me to get the certification I needed to open doors to teaching jobs in Korea afterward. I would certainly recommend it!

My tutor was there anytime I needed her and was quick to respond to every question I had. She was excellent. Her support and comments were enriching.
I have not done the practicum yet, but I eventuallty will.

As an experienced educator and online Facilitator, I found the course content manageable yet challenging.

I completed the 250-hour course a couple of years ago. The course was challenging and inexpensive.
The course is endorsed by TESL Canada which ranks it more more highly than a CELTA. It is also endorsed by ACTDEC. These endorsements are important and relatively few online programs have both of them.
There were some problems with the course content. First, there is far too much emphasis on lesson planning, and the making of long and detailed lesson plans. This is not really practical. Although all professional teachers plan, there is not enough time, or even the need, to make overly-long plans. In my many years of teaching, I have relied on a a “running order” for my classes. The course needs to use other assessments of trainees’ progress(such as quizzes and papers)and reduce the number of lesson plans required. Second, the pronunciation section is otiose and needs to be redone. The pronunciation section was the least-useful part of the course.
Finally, many employers do not accept online credentials. That practice is wrongheaded and illogical, but it is the reality.

Since I do not have an Education or Teaching background (although I have instructed adults with on-the-job training in previous jobs), I think it took me a little time to understand what questions to ask, or what I could even ask for – this seemed to delay my progress, but once I started opening up to the tutors (Ainsley and Claudia), I found that they are more than a plethora of information. Who knew all of the information, examples, and resources they could provide to me. Even through email exchanges, I have learned a lot and I have grown more confident in my ability to write lesson plans.I think, with anything else, good practice equals success, but I do really think that utilizing the tutors given to you will be the secret to success.I couldn’t have been more pleased with Ainsley, the tutor who helped me with my first TESOL course that I completed. It was a bit difficult but her support throughout the entire process made it bearable, understandable, and so much easier to understand how to complete a thorough, detailed lesson plan (so much harder than I originally thought but totally worth it once you create and complete it)Highly recommended!

I took the 20-hour TEYL module offered by OnTesol after my employer requested that I upgrade my TESOL certification. The main course material comes in a PDF file, while a tutor handles questions and assignment marking via email. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works. In fact, for people (like me) who don’t live permanently connected to the internet, the ability to do the module without requiring a constant connection can be a definite advantage. The material itself is well laid out; the methodology covered is well explained and contains examples. The links included in the PDF, while not strictly necessary for completing the module, were very helpful in illustrating specific methodology. Where OnTesol really shines is the tutor who oversees your work on the course. In my case, the tutor was a teacher with decades of experience with young learners, and I found her exceptionally responsive and helpful. Whenever I had a question or a concern, she was ready with a well-thought-out and insightful response. Great!Keep in mind that the TEYL module is only 20 hours. Considering “young learners” can mean anyone from 2-years-old to 13, that’s a lot of cognitive-development ground to cover, and the module is far from comprehensive. My biggest disappointment with it is that the examples tend to focus on intermediate-plus students– which generally means students from the upper end of the “young learners” range. If, like I do, you work mostly with absolute beginners and the youngest students in general, you’re not going to find a lot of what is discussed simply isn’t relevant. It’s all information worth knowing; it just might not be immediately applicable. When all is said and done, the TEYL module is a relatively inexpensive way to get some professional development related to teaching young learners, especially in the 8-12-year-old range. OnTesol is a good option for people with odd hours and/or limited internet connectivity.Recommended.Michael Hammett

A few years ago, I took the 250-hour online TESOL program for two reasons. I had already completed a 100 hour TEFL, so I was looking for something more robust. The possibility of getting further recognition in the form of TESL Canada Professional Standard 2 and ACTDEC UK Level 3, good for the Middle East, was the ultimate draw.I was overwhelmed with work and about ten hours ahead of Toronto time which I thought was going to be too much to sustain. And, I think, had I chosen a different program, that might have been the case. However, this program was so logically scaffolded that I never felt at odds with the course requirements. It was brilliantly administered by a fantastically professional tutor. Her feedback was timely and always pertinent. There is a terrific balance between formative and summative assessments.I wasn’t teaching ESL at the time, but a rather intensive academic English course to English Language Learners and right away the course content was applicable to my own context. I was able to begin applying concepts and strategies immediately. The course definitely made me a stronger teacher.I had thought I was just going to rack up the hours and breeze through the course based on my previous experience with online courses. I was so wrong! The course was demanding; the material was challenging; the tutor was not giving any free passes. Ultimately, I had enrolled in the best online TEFL course ever. Overall, professional and reputable.I recommend the 250-hour online course for anyone working with English Language Learners.

After teaching many years I was looking for a specialization dealing with second/multiple languages as I was living abroad. I would be using these skills on a daily basis in small groups, large groups and different age groups. I found the course through its’ modules logically organized, comprehensive and helped you to look for solutions that were not always used in the classrooms but would relate to students’ daily lives. This was my first course that I followed online receiving support by Skype, emails and feedback on assignments which were positive and filled with shared knowledge. The materials used were filled with examples and had clear guidelines; however, I also supplemented this with another grammar book. My practicum was alright but my actual teaching position benefited enormously from the knowledge and content that I acquired through the course. I highly recommend this program. It was much more that I anticipated but all to the benefit of myself, my students and my employer!

ONTESOL provides a very thorough curriculum and plenty of support at a good price. I was also very thankful for help in getting a job teaching ESL.They have very high standards and expect students to meet the standards. Sometimes I felt that maybe they could allow more flexibility for different teaching styles. I’d recommend ONTESOL for anyone who wants a TESOL certification and is comfortable with online learning.

I found this online course to be very practical. I was able to study this alongside my full-time job with the option to extend the course deadline if possible. Ontesol was one of the few TESOL courses I found with such flexibility! My tutor always responded to my emails very quickly and was very helpful.

With ONTESOL, you learn at comfort of your home and obtain an internationally recognized certificate. I just completed 120 hr ontesol and 20 hr IELTS specialist course. The fact that I’m employed by Ghana education service and had been teaching for some years now, my course at ontesol has enabled me discovered a lot in my teaching profession.
My students are in focus ( active learning ) in lesson notes preparation and lesson delivery. That has awakened thier interest and my class has become very lively. The one – size – fit – all approach has been given a fair balance with a variety of methods which addresses the multi intelligence of my class.
My understanding of the communicative approach is also enhanced and I teach the four language skills communicatively in an integrated form
My tutors were fantastic and I’m particularly fascinated by thier prompt response, in depth knowledge, and guidance. I recommend ONTESOL course for all English language teachers.

I recently completed the advanced 250-hour Diploma course. I found really useful and thorough. I liked that the course could be completed online and at my own pace.
I really appreciated having tutors and all the helpful feedback. I was able to email her if I questions about my assignments or course content. She was alway willing to help me and also gave detailed corrections and tips for the classroom.
I would recommend this course to others who are thinking about taking a TESOL course

I’ve recently completed the 120 hour TESOL and 20 hour practicum. Prior to the course I gained some experience tutoring English overseas. The 120 hour TESOL course helped build on my teaching skills and techniques. It provided me with key theories that proved to be essential in looking at class activities or situations in different ways. I found myself being a more flexible teacher that can adjust my lessons to cater to various types of students. The assignments were well designed. I was required to create lesson plans that focused on designing activities, grammar, speaking, listening and vocabulary. This provided me with useful practice in creating customized lesson plans. My supervisor was very approachable and gave constructive advice. They responded in a timely manner, usually within a day or two from my submission. I could tell that my supervisor had a different teaching style, so it was interesting to see other approaches I could take. The office staff kindly provided me with a lot of information regarding, payment, application process, and employment opportunities. I really enjoyed my 20 hour practicum. You can gain a lot by simply observing an experienced teacher working their craft. My supervising teacher gave detailed advice after every lesson. He challenged me to improve on them for the next lesson. Being around actual students in an authentic school environment, helped me get a better understanding of which theories work and which don’t. I suggest to take this opportunity to play around and tweak your lessons little by little. The freedom I was given to create lessons, really pushed my creativity skills. I felt a great sense of achievement after successfully teaching a lesson I created. By the end of the two weeks, you’ll become closer to your students and supervising instructor. My advice is enjoy it while it to the fullest. It motivated me to start my career right away!

I would highly recommend the 120-hour OnTESOL course for new ESL teachers. Although I had been teaching in Japan for two years prior to taking the course, I lacked proper credentials and found myself struggling with my classes and reverting to teaching sites for strategies and lesson ideas. A friend and ESL coordinator at an international school recommended OnTESOL because they’re reputable and provide affordable high quality courses. As anyone researching TESOL certificates knows, finding a course with those traits can be difficult and overwhelming but it’s also paramount to receive the proper qualifications you need to teach abroad. Not only did OnTESOL surpass my expectations and provide me with a solid base on teaching methodologies and lesson planning, but it also allowed me to quickly apply what I was learning to my classroom. I gained confidence with my teaching and had better control of my class, simply by using the knowledge and techniques that I gained through the course. Be forewarned though: this course isn’t easy. It takes hard work and dedication. But that’s part of what makes it rewarding and it’s certainly worth the effort. For anyone wondering about the six month time constraint (120-hr course), it is completely sufficient, and I was working two jobs while completing the course. As a final note, my tutor, Claudia, was absolutely incredible. Not only would she reply in a timely manner, but she gave constructive criticism and insightful feedback and I felt supported every step of the way.Overall, a wonderful course that is reputable, affordable, and provides you with the quality education you need to teach in an ESL classroom.

I began teaching English in 2011 with prior experience but no certification. As a result I spent a lot of time researching what would be the best option for me to become certified in ESL teaching while continuing at my school in South Korea. I had considered getting a CELTA but couldn’t find the time or money to complete the program abroad. That’s when I discovered Ontesol, which was the perfect fit for my situation. Ontesol is thoroughly accredited and recognized by TESL Canada (and have been for over ten years), which was a big priority for me when considering online certifications. Their curriculum and instructors are very high quality. While I was completing my 250 hour Diploma, my husband was finishing his MA in TESOL and on comparison I discovered our course material was quite similar. My instructor was professional and extremely thorough. Though the program was rigorous, it enabled me to identify and improve holes in my lesson planning as well as the effectiveness of my lesson delivery. I learned a great deal over the course of 7 months, and when I had completed the program I opted to continue on and complete my practicum, which I was able to do at the university where I am currently employed. I am in the process of working with TESL Canada to become qualified to teach in Canada when we move back in 2018.Overall, the convenience, value and quality of an Ontesol certification make it one of the best options I have come across for ESL qualifications while abroad. I highly recommend this program.

This course was very thorough and provided exactly what I was looking for. The opportunity to finish the course online, and then do an in-person practical at any time to upgrade the certification, was a big reason I chose this course. It means I can find work with the first certification, and then, if I so choose, I can upgrade to find work here in Canada. The tutor system was excellent. Very personable. The course was broken into 3 distinct modules and that broke up the learning quite well. The information was given in pdf readings, which were quite professional. I found the content to be great, and the delivery at least average. Thanks OnTESOL!

OnTESOL was recommended to me by a friend and I was a little hesitant to take it at first due to the plethora of online TEFL courses that could be taken online. However, after finishing the course and the 20 hour TEYL course, I found that the OnTESOL offered a very effective curriculum. English is something that a lot of English speakers take for granted and I believe that the course helps in making people realize this. It actually drives a point that English teachers need consider that English isn’t the easiest of languages. The course was divided into very specific areas that helped in consuming what was taught in a non-overwhelming manner while still being very effective in explaining what the different aspects of the English language are. Additionally, I found the TEYL aspect of the course incredibly useful, especially with the various ways a lesson could be taught. I found the extra resources given helpful as well, should we need it in the future. My instructors were also very helpful and provided me with great constructive criticism. Overall, I was impressed and satisfied with the course.

I took part in the 120-hour advanced TESL course and I absolutely adored it! My tutor was quick to respond to any questions that I had regarding course material, and the material itself was extremely well written and very clear. I received my TESOL certification from OnTESOL several years ago and it has been a true asset ever since. I applied for jobs in Japan immediately after completing the course and had no problem getting hired. I was pleased to discover that the material covered in the course closely reflected the skills required in the field. I have been teaching ESL now for almost 6 years now, lived in 3 countries, and traveled all around the world. This is the only certification I have (other than a BA). Thanks for making it possible!

100 hour TESOL + 20 hour TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners).I found that the course were very informative and I learned a lot more than I initially expected. My teachers were helpful, although I didn’t use them much. Everything was just better and much more than I expected.I liked the course, and even though I have been teaching for 2 years I learned a lot. Especially the Grammar and Methodology gave me a lot of new things to consider when teaching.I took it slow and I have been using more hours than the 100 + 20 in my study. I think it is possible to do in 120 hours, but not for me. I liked to explore most of the extra material and I have used at least 200-250 hours on this course, which also payed of in a very good result

I completed the 100-hour TEFL course with OnTESOL. I have learned many new things with OnTESOL and Aaron. Throughout the course, Aaron provided me with direct, helpful feedback for each assignment. Aaron would go above and beyond with his explanation of the topic, allowing me to have a better understanding of the concepts being taught. Having the option to take a completely online course was incredibly convenient for me, as I had to balance work, full-time school, and this course. OnTESOL proved to be the best, most accommodative choice in their professionalism and support. I would recommend OnTESOL to anyone weighing their options.

Through Ontesol, I enjoyed the flexibility of doing an online 250-hour diploma while working full-time. It has been a rigorous program. Initially, I’d expected to complete this program quite easily within the expected time, but after I began, I realized that I would have had to make some major adjustments to my personal time in order to complete the assignments. I liked the fact that I was exposed to loads of resources that allowed me to complete the assignments. These websites and books have been helpful even after the course, as I use them as reference guides in planning my lessons. I am happy that I made the decision to do Ontesol 250-hour Diploma. My tutor, Claudia is clearly an experienced and very knowledgeable person. Her feedback was thorough, which helped me when completing follow-up assignments.

It’s been a great deal and addition to my teaching endeavor, since I enrolled on TEFL/TEYL 120-hour Specialized course. Though, I had been on the teaching field before I started the 120-hour Specialized on TEFL/TEYL. However, the experience I have now in this course of study, is overwhelming and amazing.
This is a program that drills any English teacher for different levels, stages or phases in course of teaching any kind of students. The program has helped me in great deal, both in ‘lesson planning’, and also in ‘delivering the lesson in the classroom’.
The program is enriched with different kind of materials, which has helped and added a lot on my teaching career.
It’s also an eye opener in teaching English language, especially to non-English speakers.
My tutors, Aaron M. and Claudia B., they were so amazing and friendly. Their comments and feedbacks on assignments are so excellent. They had imparted great knowledge on me. Especially on lesson plan designing.I really enjoyed my time with them.

I’m a complete novice when it comes to teaching but it’s one of my dreams to teach ESL. OnTESOL certificate programs are well balances, great resources, professional instructors and most importantly, flexible. Overall, the TEFL course at Ontesol was great. My tutors were Aaron and Claudia. They were very supportive throughout the course. The course content wasn’t too difficult, however it did need a lot of work with assignments, readings, practices and 2 tests. My tutor’s contrasting styles gave me multiple perspectives on the different topics. The course material and syllabus are easy to follow. It is a lot of work; however, if you do the work, you will do well in the course.

OnTESOL TEFL certificate course has prepared me well to be certified as an international English teacher, although an accountant by profession. I have been a part-time teacher in Ghana but didn’t know of ESL teaching until I met a friend in Istanbul who got me introduced to it. At the beginning, ı was in a dilemma as to which ESL course provider that I had to choose since there is a tall list of them including the ones he had already given me. With my research, however, I got settled on OnTESOL due to their timely feedback and most importantly their internationally structured course contents to meet the needs of ESL teaching.OnTESOL course modules were simple and well structured to convey the exact meaning and the assignments will further test and broaden your understanding level, which I much benefited from. My tutors, Aaron and Claudia gave me the best virtual learning experience. Their guidance and feedback were of immense help. In all, there was great value for what I paid for. I recommend OnTESOL courses to native/non-native English speakers, teachers and potential teachers.

I have truly enjoyed my experience taking the online 100 hour TESOL certificate with ONTESOL. The course instructor Ainsley was very helpful, provided feedback and guidance.
The two part course was easily accessible online, flexible and convenient to work from home any time. I was able to take this certificate while I was working. I gained knowledge in grammar, methodology, and phonology and the readings were informative and well structured. I learned ways to teach adult ELLs and create individualized lesson plans that are geared towards their English language needs.
Overall, my experience taking this certificate with ONTESOL was positive and provided me with strategies, theories and knowledge. I have been applying what I have learned from this course to my lesson plans that I have been teaching to students.

The convenience (indeed the necessity) of completing a course completely online was what drew me to OnTesol. This course was very instructive, and I have learned quite a bit that I will continue to use, both in teaching and in my daily life as an English speaker. I finished the online TESOL course and Practicum in December. The material and tutor support in the online course are excellent. The course takes you into the classroom through practical assignments and you are really prepared to stand in front of a class after the online portion, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to take the Practicum because you get to see how all the methodology comes to light in a real class and you get extra feedback from a qualified teacher that sits next to you the whole class. As for facilities, they work with different schools in Toronto. Overall, the schools were very nice and allowed me to use their wifi and even gave me coffee. The only drawback is that it took one of the schools a few weeks to set up the classes. I wasn’t in a hurry and it helped me prepare my lessons but some people may want to get certified quickly. If you are looking for good a part-time course, then go with ontesol!!!As for job placement, they are very well known in Toronto and helped me get started with a couple of subbing jobs. They also work with recruiters abroad but I haven’t used these services. I kind of wish they had more in Latin America, although their service is great considering that it’s free.

I found the 120-hr course to be comprehensive and a great vehicle for learning what you need to know to walk into a classroom with confidence. I especially liked that instructors and administrators from ONTESOL were willing to work with me when I had some other things come up in my life and had to focus on them for a couple of months. When I was ready to return to my studies there were waiting for me. I found that focus on the student refreshing.I have not used the job placement service so I cannot rate that, but they have inquired about where I want to teach and sent me some links to boards that I had not already found.

I took the 120 hour advanced TESOL Cert. Course. The course was interesting and very comprehensive. Although i would have preferred to take the Trinity Certesol that Coventry House also offers, the online course covered major topics quite well and the tutor was timely with their feedback. The best learning experience was gained from taking the 20hr additional practicum, going to actual ESL classrooms and either observing or teaching. The first-hand teaching experiences and feedback were absolutely invaluable and added a great deal to the course as a whole. Well worth it and recognized by Tesol Canada.

I gave this course pretty good marks for what it was – an online, self-taught, 120 hour course. That being said, I think any in-person course where you get to actually practice teaching will beat almost any online course. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course. I didn’t know what to expect and I thought I might just be paying $250 to go through the motions and do some busy work and end up with a certificate that I could use to start teaching in Mexico City. But I actually learned a decent amount and put in a lot of hours. I’m not sure if it was actually 120 hours, but it was significant work. The course is basically divided into two main sections – 1. grammar and pronunciation (“phonology”) and 2. how to teach (“methodology”). I really enjoyed the grammar section and learned/remembered a lot. The phonology section was all new information to me and I put in the time to really learn and understand it and came away with a lot from that. The second part – basically how to teach ESL – is just a hard thing to learn from text and videos, especially if you have no teaching experience in the past to reference the ideas to. This is where in person practice would be really valuable. I learned quite a bit here, but it’s all so theoretical I don’t know how useful it will be. I feel like after a few months teaching, if I go back and review the material I’ll get a lot more out of it.One criticism is that there were maybe 20 typos/errors/repeated sentences in the pdf manuals, but out of maybe 200 pages, that isn’t too bad. It does give a feeling of being slightly unprofessional though. Maybe 5 or 6 YouTube links were broken as well, mostly due to copyright issues. The “instructors” were friendly and helpful and seemed competent but really my only interaction with them was to get feedback on the 5 or 6 assignments that you have to submit. I can’t speak to job placement at all because I didn’t use it.I think this course is probably pretty similar to other courses available from established companies. Quality was good, price was good. If I had to do it over I would go with OnTESOL again.

I was really satisfied with the 120-hour advanced TESOL certificate course I took. The course content was great and I learnt so much. The content was very thorough with what we need to learn in order to teach. I liked that it was an online course that can accommodate my super busy and packed schedule as I don’t work a normal full time job to be able to go to any other places with physical classes. I had Ainsley as a tutor for my course and she was amazing! She marked and gave me really feedback on my assignments within a day usually. She also provided me lots of help when I had major questions for the lesson plans because I was stuck the first time I had to create one. She was very nice and accommodating when I told her I needed to get my assignments marked in time so I can finish my course for my application. She was so kind to help me mark everything ASAP so I can finish the course in time. The people working in the administrative end was also very nice and accommodating with the rush arrangement to pick up my certificate. I had such a wonderful and amazing experience with them. I am so glad I chose them over other places I could have went to. Though of course it definitely would have been great to have actual practical teaching included or a physical class where you can see the teacher teach in person. But my schedule can only allow and online course and this course fits that just perfectly. I’m looking forward to doing my TEYL specialization course with them.

The 140-hour Advanced TESOL Certificate with Practicum greatly prepared me for the classroom. Each module in the online course contained detailed explanations of concepts. The assignments prepared me for the Practicum and real world scenarios, as I had to plan full classes from the beginning. My tutor gave lots of valuable feedback and provided me with his own perspective on how he prepares his classes. This was a very experiential learning experience for an online course. The staff at Ontesol helped me set up my Practicum at a language school in Toronto right after I finished my online course and they set me up with 4 job interviews with local schools, so I came out of this program with professional skills and a job. I highly recommend Ontesol!

Before I went in for the 250hour OnTESOL program, I was actually looking for a program that could endow me with the necessary skills for teaching ESL students. At the beginning, I was actually wondering if I was in the right place, but after completing this program I came to realize that I took a correct decision and made a right choice by choosing Coventry House International. The course content provided me with all I need in this endeavor. My tutor, Ms. Claudia Bertotto, is very efficient, and she provided me with all I needed throughout the program. I want to thank her for her sincere instructions and all those who, in one way or the other, contributed for my going through this program successfully. I am recommending the 250hour OnTESOL diploma to all my colleagues teaching English in the UAE. Today, I can go into the classroom with full confidence and prepare lessons for ESL students and business people with efficiency.

I just finished the course and I am extremely happy I chose Ontesol. From the moment I signed up, the whole process of completing the course was very clear and straightforward. I got responses very quickly after sending emails, from both the director and my tutor. The course content is informative, interesting, and relevant. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the course, but I felt challenged in a way that I felt helped me grow in a very positive way. I’ve learned many new things, and I now feel confident in my abilities as an ESL teacher. What I appreciate about this particular course is that you can go at your own pace – you have 6 months to complete it, which is ample time. I don’t have anything negative to say about this course. It was a very positive experience. I would recommend Ontesol as a first choice to anyone who is looking to become an ESL teacher.

I was extremely satisfied with my 120-Hour Certificate Course with TEYL Practicum. During the course I gained immense knowledge about all the relevant fields related to teaching english such as: grammar, phonology, and methodology. The content of these modules served well to provide me with information I had never encountered when learning the specifics of the English language during grade school. Assignments were structured with clarity and if they were not completed with accurate information, I was asked to redo the assignment for a higher grade. The feedback I received from my tutor was superb. Both Danielle and Claudia were excellent tutors and were great resources for my questions, providing me with further clarification about a certain topic. The lesson plans challenged me to a great degree, but all in all were helpful to get me in the mindset of teaching new learners. On the administrative side, I would like to commend Lucas for being so quick to respond and helping me extend my course when I needed it. OnTESOL was accommodating and professional when I needed to extend my course. There is a fair amount of work to be done in this course, but if you are committed to finishing in a certain amount of time and dedicate consistent time to completing the assignments, you should not have to extend the course. I applied for a teaching position in South Korea through EPIK and did not use the job placement services provided by OnTESOL, but I am sure they are great. Thanks to OnTESOL, I will be heading to South Korea in September 2016 to fulfill my position with a great knowledge of my native language and some very effective ways to teach it. I am also relieved that I can continue to use my tutors as a resource while there. I highly recommend OnTESOL as an affordable, competent, and professional certification course.

I would defiantly recommend Ontesol’s courses. The material they provide is comprehensive but is written a way that make these deep concepts easy to comprehend. Many of the views i had on teaching before the course have changed. I also have a much better appreciation for the importance of phonology. I expected this section to be quite boring but I actually had fun learning how we make syllable and how important incredibly minor looking differences can be.
However if one thing stood out about the program it was the quality of their staff. My tutor didn’t just help me pass my assignments. After each assignment he added his own experiences, helpful tips and what to concentrate on. And all of the staff were very accommodating and punctual. They were very willing to go the extra mile to help me. If one wants to do a TESOL I seriously recommend Ontesol.

The courses offered by ONTESOL are very comprehensive and extremely helpful if you want to teach English abroad or locally. The classes being online, I could study and work at the same time. I was given plenty of time to complete the assignments and the feedback was spot-on and very prompt. The instructors were also very encouraging and ready to answer my questions. I have completed three courses (100 hours, 250 hours and the TEYL). The 250-hour course offers very detailed information on grammar and phonology, which I now successfully use in my classes. I knew nothing about TESL before and this was a great way for me to delve into this field and feel confident about my skills. Overall it was a great experience and it has definitely made me a better teacher!

I only have great things to say about the 250-hour course. The material was easy to follow and the assignments were very practical. The assignments start easy and then get very challenging when you have to create full lesson plans. My tutor filled my work with comments on everything I submitted and she was there 24/7 to answer my questions. The Practicum module helped me see how a lesson plan is such a crucial part of teaching English as I had to create a lesson plans for each class. I really liked that I learned to teach English in a very creative way, using songs and videos instead of the textbook. My school really liked how I evolved as a teacher while taking the course with Ontesol. This is a great school to get your TESOL certification.

It was very thorough and detailed, giving me new insight in my lesson planning techniques. I also did a specialization in TEYL because I enjoy teaching children. I had two wonderful teaching supervisors. Ainsley was very detail oriented and Claudia was very encouraging. They really made a difference when I had difficulties. Thank you very much!

I needed to take an online course because the closest university is 2 hours away. I didn’t know how to pick a course, so I went to the TESL Canada website. I ended up taking the 250-hour course offered by Ontesol because it was the most affordable one. I thought it would be a walk in the park but it was a lot of work. Really worth it though! There are 30 assignments and 3 exams in this course. A lot of emphasis is placed on lesson planning and I am very grateful for that because I was ready to teach any level when I finished the course. If you want to become a good teacher, then take this course!

The Ontesol Diploma program helped me secure a full-time job in Canada after having taught around the world without certification. I was stunned at the quality of the course material and the professional support I received from my tutor. I am very grateful for the support that my tutor provided because the first five assignments were very difficult for me. I thought that I knew everything from my time teaching abroad and this program kicked my butt! The methods that this program teaches work perfectly in any classroom. Overall, this is a great program and I highly recommend it.

I’m very satisfied with the level of training I received from Ontesol. My director was initially very surprised by the quality of my lesson plans and how quickly I adapted to different ESL levels given that I had no prior teaching experience. The 250-hour Diploma covered everything I needed to become a good teacher. I submitted assignments when I wanted and I completed the Practicum at the school where I taught part-time this summer. I took on the challenge of taking the 250-hour OnTESOL course. After looking into other programs and what they had to offer, I knew the 250-hour OnTESOL course would provide me the background I needed to feel secure in my teaching abilities. As someone who does not have much official teaching experience, I wanted a course that would provide me extensive information on what I needed to know to become a good ESL teacher. This course definitely exceeded my expectations. The program is separated into three modules; grammar, methodology, and phonology. Each module is very thorough and easy to follow. Working full-time, I enjoyed the flexibility of an online course. The program provided an expanse amount of time to complete each module. There were times though, where I lagged on my reading or assignments because I felt I had plenty of time to complete them. You will definitely need to have the discipline and motivation to stay on top of everything to complete the course. Fortunately, OnTESOL provides a syllabus for you to help you stay on track. It really helped me keep myself in check when I started to stray.I was very impressed by the support I received. Having taken online courses before in college, I never got as much feedback and support by the professors like I did with my OnTESOL tutor. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is serious about taking on the adventures of being an ESL teacher.

I recently began a 120 hour course with Ontesol to renew my older 80 hour certification. The course was very straightforward with clear goals to aim for in each section. The course itself features many teaching techniques, how to apply them in a classroom and what to compliment them with. The lesson plan creation section of the course which is vital to practical teaching was helped along wonderfully by instructor feedback. At each step of the lesson plan creation any questions asked would the receive prompt feedback needed to improve on my lessons. All in all Ontesol and it’s Instructors did a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to further their own training.

The 100-hour TESOL course vastly broadened my perspective in terms of the rigour that is required to teach English to students from a different mother tongue. While I was taking the course, I was teaching English two nights a week to Punjabi immigrants and I found what I was learned extremely helpful in the classroom. I feel much more equipped now that I have taken the course to teach effectively, and for that, I’m thankful.

I recently completed the 250-hour online course, as well as the 20-hour in-classroom component of my TESOL certification.
I didn’t know what to expect from the online course, as it was my first time learning via online course. However, the course was easy to comprehend, allowed lots of communication with your tutor, and provided lots of opportunities to practice the skills being taught. As someone who has never taught a day in their life, the step-by-step instructions on how to write lesson plans, handle classroom issues, and work with your students was incredibly useful. The fact that it was online also meant that I could complete it at my own pace, which removed a lot of the usual stress one would feel while working through a course. I did find the material to be a little dated, but it was relevant and useful nonetheless.
As mentioned above, as someone who has never taught before, actually teaching a lesson in a real classroom was crucial to the development of my abilities as a teacher. It didn’t take long to figure out that what may have worked in theory didn’t always play out the way you wanted it to in the classroom. During the 20-hour practicuum I was able to develop and improve my skills in classroom management and lesson planning. The facilities used for the practicum were professional atmospheres with motivated students, and the staff member overseeing my training was always patient and kind, yet never afraid to say exactly where improvement was needed and how to do so. By the end of my practicum, I can confidently say that I feel significantly better prepared for an actual job experience.
Overall, my experience with ONTesol was positive. All the staff I interacted with were accomodating and professional, as well as the material used in the course was relevant and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend!

I had taught for eight years before I took the 250 hour tesol diploma online. It was my first online course and I feel like it really improved my teaching and lesson planning methodology. The three theory modules are thorough, thought provoking and gel together well, providing an excellent base for the practicum. Both my online instructor and practicum tutor were outstanding and their feedback was precise, helpful and will be a source of guidance for many years to come. It was a very positive and empowering experience; highly recommended for teachers looking to specialize in ESL teaching or just looking to bolster their teaching skills.

I have just completed the 120 h course. I wasn’t sure what to expect with it being my first online learning experience, but it went really well.
The support I got was amazing; if I had a problem, they were really quick to reply.
The first two modules were easier to complete, as I had previously studied the course content in University. The third module, however, was a bit more of a struggle. The good thing is, the guidance and the feedback from the two tutors is really helpful. If you have any doubts about submitting an assignment, you can always ask more questions or have them look over a page or two first, before grading it. That was probably my favorite part about this course-the amazing feedback. You will get comments on the assignment explaining where you could improve the lesson plan, or whether an activity is suitable for that specific lesson or not.
I couldn’t rate the practice teaching and job placement sections because I didn’t use them, but other than that, this course has proven to be really helpful for me.

I just completed the 120 hour online TESOL course with business specialization. The course materials were detailed and clear. The tutors were outstanding. Both of my tutors were readily available and extremely competent. Their advice was spot-on and their critiques were very constructive. Dealing with onTESOL was easy and quick, and the office staff were as responsive and competent as the tutors. I learned a lot, and I really didn’t expect that, as I have been an educator at both university and secondary levels in the sciences for over 30 years, having taught uni, AP and A level courses in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology. I honestly feel I am a better teacher as a result of this course. This course is NOT for the faint of heart! You will work hard to earn a pass with distinction, they don’t give it away. You will come through the course with a real feeling of competence and confidence. And the course materials make a very good reference for continued value throughout your teaching career. So why not 5 stars all around? NOTHING is perfect in this world, and if you knew how many times I have given 5 stars (or the equivalent) in any review you would know how rare it is. I would have perhaps included another graded component for student production than just the 4 lesson plans. Perhaps a written synopsis of internet research into ESL methodologies or something along those lines. I also thought the resources were a bit light on the website, but they are adding to them all the time so that will improve. The last thing is a bit of picking the nit, but I never had any access to my scores/student reports on the website, everything was blank and still is when I click on the “grades” tab for each module. No big deal, as I was apprised of my scores and progress by my tutors every step of the way, but that should be fixed.I enthusiastically endorse the onTESOL 120 hour course, it’s worth every penny.

I completed the 100-hr certification course in May 2014 — I’m currently earning my teaching certification for teaching English at the secondary level (grades 6 – 12), and I have to say that the preparation provided by my online TESOL course was superior. The quality of feedback was superb — my tutor was an expert in teaching english as a second language, with a Master’s degree in English and a TESOL certification from Trinity University — and I continue to refer to the content I studied for the class itself, which managed to be both comprehensive, necessary (nothing superfluous) and interesting. After graduating from the course I have even been able to maintain a dialogue with my tutor and with Ontesol itself, as the organization has gone above and beyond to ensure that I am able to find employment and put my TESOL certification to good use. I cannot recommend Ontesol’s online courses more highly. They are not for those expecting an “easy” online class, or a gimme certificate that does not really mean anything. They will give you your money’s worth, which means the assignments do require your time and attention.

My teacher was very accessible; she provided me with continual encouragement and feedback on course assignments. The content is very thorough, concrete, and applicable for classroom teaching . I was able to finish the course and practicum at my own pace and during my own time. Even after graduation, I received great support from people in the program (Lucas & Claudia-providing me with transcripts, references etc) . I would highly recommend this program to everyone.

The program is delivered in a systematic manner and I would say that the feedbacks from the instructor are very valuable and insightful! The training, for me, is not only a great professional development opportunity for my teaching career, it could also be applied to any field in terms of the enhancement of communication skills with speakers of limited English. This is literally one of the best online program I’ve had in my life and no doubt that it was a great experience!

I completed the 250 hour on-line course with OnTesol. I found it both rigorous and stimulating. The quality of the instruction is very high as is the standard of work expected from students . Both my on-line and practicum tutors were very knowledgeable and responded to questions in a timely and professional manner. I most appreciated the quality of the feedback I received from both of them. Comments were focused and well communicated. I was not only told what need to be worked on, but also how to do it. This kind of feedback allowed me to reflect and grow in understanding. In the practicum lessons were deconstructed and reviewed in a positive manner with suggestions always being given for improvement or further reflection. It was always clear what the target outcomes were and I felt supported in reaching them.I highly recommend this course. You’ll learn so much about the English language & how to teach it.

I completed the 120-hour TESOL program in August (2014). The main reason I chose this program was because they also offer a 250-hour program that is recognized by TESL Canada. I feel like I got my money’s worth, with a good grammar review, introduction to phonetics, and lots of practice on designing lessons. The tutors were really great! Even though we only communicated by email, they quickly answered any questions I had. I think my favorite part of this program was the feedback I got on my assignments. You could tell that the tutors really knew their stuff, and had lots of teaching experience! Right now, I’m working on getting an ESL job in Korea. If that works out, i know I’ll be referencing my course material as I get into the ESL teaching groove!

I recently completed the online 120 TESOL course offered by OnTesol. I decided to take the course because of the positive reviews on this website.
I was not disappointed. The course material in all three major modules( grammar, phonology and methodology) was informative and thorough. The tutors provided useful feedback, and always had my assignments marked ( with comments) within 24 hours. I felt like the organization was interested in providing ESL teachers with the best training possible. The lesson plan information and practice while at times challenging, was also very useful. I feel better prepared to begin working as an ESL teacher now that I’ve completed the course.
Also it’s great that you can arrange for in-class practicums through OnTesol as well. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and would recommend OnTesol for anyone looking for TESOL certification.

After looking over all my options for getting certified online, I chose Ontesol because I really love how they give you the option of doing practicum wherever you live. I wasn’t able to travel anywhere to do practicum, so this option was really great for me. However, because I was in a bit of a time crunch, I chose to NOT do the practicum, which really seemed like a waste. If I would’ve known I wasn’t going to do it, I think I would’ve picked a less expensive course. Anyways, here are some more details:Likes: It’s online and is fairly cheap if you choose to do the practicum. Like I said though, I didn’t. The course was fairly easy until you got to the lesson plan section. I liked the fact that it was difficult though. I think this makes you a better teacher. The information was helpful, and as someone who has spoken English all her life, I still learned a lot about English. My tutors were there for me if I needed them, and always gave me feedback.Dislikes: The punctuation errors in the lessons kind of put me off at first. I am by no means perfect at this, but I thought that since they are supposed to be teaching us how to teach English, the errors would’ve been nonexistent. This made me a little afraid that I hadn’t chosen a reputable company. I’m just a nerd about that kind of stuff though.Overall: As far as I know, this course is reputable and does require work. You can’t just fly by it. But if you’re not going to do the teaching practicum, there are other strong options to consider.

I took the 250 hour course. It is an excellent course but it is a lot of work! You learn a lot but you need to be self-motivated and disciplined to get through it. Grammar, lesson planning, teaching styles, all are covered in detail. The practice teaching section was very valuable, with detailed feed-back and suggestions for improvement.

I had done a fair amount of research online before choosing ontesol for my ESL certification and am delighted with my choice. The course was both intensive and rich in vital information delivered in an easy to digest fashion. Their e-books are comprehensive with countless in-depth lesson plans and a great review of the grammar I use daily but had “forgotten.” My tutor, Aaron, was awesomely enthusiastic about teaching and with that, I was gifted to his insights regarding how to best do it through kindly constructive criticism coming at me promptly as we worked through each lesson and lesson plan. Although my 100 hour course did not include actual teaching practice (they do encourage you to take the additional 20 hour practicum, if you feel it necessary), with the confidence I have gained from the course, I felt at ease in my few days volunteering in front of a group of restless kids. That said, I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to teach English as a second language

I took the 100 hour course and was less enthustiastic at the end than some others. While the material was in general pretty good, and I thought the methodologies solid, I had some issues with the way the courses were structured and laid out. I did like the online aspect of it and the ability to self-pace. That worked well for me as I have a bit of a crazy schedule. Also the tutor was good given the limitations of the interactions we were able to have. One thing I appreciated was the availability of the tutor and the quick response as far as questions and feedback. That will serve me well as a teacher as I came to appreciate how important that is to students. The hardest part for me was the practical side of it and being able to feel comfortable in front of a classroom full of people I couldn’t communicate perfectly with.

OnTesol has been a great experience. The course material was expansive and informative while also being easy to understand. The course was well paced and it all felt well put together. I feel I learned more than I could have hoped to gain from a purely online course. This was a fantastic experience.
My tutor was probably the best part of the course. My tutor was an excellent source of feedback and support. She was always reachable and assisted in any concern I might have had. My tutor was Danielle and she was amazing in every respect, providing feedback to my submissions and guidance for what was approaching.
Highly recommend this course. I can only speak as a rookie in this respect. If you’re uncertain with what course provider to go with OnTesol is amazing!

I recently completed the 100-hour online TESOL certificate course, and found the information presented in the course modules to be very helpful. Now, I have some teaching experience, but had no formal training prior to taking this course. My first couple of classes teaching I was winging it, and if I had the knowledge provided in this course it would have been beneficial to my former students’ learning experience. Apart from the excellent course content, the assigned tutors are a great resource for their insight and feedback. My tutor was Aaron, and the feedback he gave me on my assignments was useful. He pointed out the faults to my approach on my lesson plans and gave me detailed explanations on how to improve them. Now, I highly recommend this course if you are a rookie or a seasoned veteran. The knowledge gained will be helpful to you and the students you plan to teach. The methodology covered in this course will give you a basic understanding on how to organize your lessons and provide supportive strategies to reach the different types of learners in your classroom. The assignments will help reinforce these concepts and the tutor is there to help if any questions arise.”

I wasn’t quite sure about my deicision to take an online course. Especially, with having a background in Linguistics and over 5 years of teaching experience in Korea. However, I am so glad that I went through with it. The course content covered a large variety of topics and points of concern for most teachers. The tutor was amazing with very good guidance and feedback. The materials and resources provided on the website are more than efficient to help students complete all of the necessary work required to be successful.
I can’t comment much on the practice teaching or job placement because these things weren’t required in my situation. However, I must state as an overall comment, that there is a reason why there are almost 100 positive reviews for this course and they have been in business for over 10 years. If you are looking for an internationally recognized online program no matter where you’re located in the world, then ONTESOL is definitely the way to go.

I have been teaching Spanish and French for the past 40 years. Recently, I decided to expand my certification to include English as a second language. I was pleasantly surprised by the online course presented by Ontesol. It was a much more serious course than I had originally expected. The content deals with past and current educational theories and is very complete, and challenging. The support from the tutor is invaluable! She is a very well prepared professional who provided very insightful comments and helpful direction through out the course. I would be happy to recommend this course to any of my friends who are thinking of getting certified to teach English.

I highly recommend this course. I had 5+ years experience teaching prior to taking it but I had no formal training. I learned so much and am definitely a better teacher now. My student evaluations are noticeably higher than before (and they were good to begin with) and my lesson planning is much more efficient. Everyone I dealt with was professional and knowledgeable. The feedback I received while doing my practicum was particularly helpful. I can imagine that doing an online course is not for everyone but for me (living in Mexico with a newborn) the flexibility was ideal.

I had my doubts about an online course, but I worked really hard for my 250-hour Ontesol diploma and learned many new an interesting things. I had already taught abroad for 3 years prior to obtaining my diploma, and I believe that the principles taught in the course have made me a better teacher. The readings are quite thorough. During the practicum, I picked up some advice that I will carry with me in all my future teach endeavours.
I haven’t had a need to use a job placement service yet, so I can’t comment on it.
I would defend this course against naysayers who look down upon online courses. I worked harder that most people whom I spoke to that took in-class courses.

This course was my first online course experience. It was very easy to use, and the tutors were very helpful. I took the 120 hour course, with the TEYL specialization. My tutors were always accessible, and I never felt like they were distant. They gave excellent feedback on all of the assignments and responded very promptly to any questions. Also, I think that the course is very well organized starting from reading/listening/studying tips and then moving onto grammar/phonology and finally ending with lesson plans. I personally don’t have any experience formally teaching so this course has given me resources and confidence to succeed in any future teaching jobs I may have. The only negative thing I would say is that sometimes it takes awhile for the administration team to reply back. However, they are always very nice and helpful, so even that is not a terribly big negative point. I would definitely recommend this program!

I was more than a little uncertain about what provider to choose for my TESOL certification, but after a lot of research Ontesol was by far the better choice out there. The course was very thorough and gave me the confidence to start a career in teaching English. My tutor was amazing. She helped me with every question I had and responded quickly. When I received her responses and corrections they were always in great detail and provided encouragement. I never felt lost or doubted this course once during the time I spent working on it. Having the knowledge and feeling the level of preparedness that this course provided will be invaluable to my future in teaching English. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested teaching or is currently teaching English abroad.

There’s really nothing negative I can say about Ontesol. I took the 100 hour course, and I was quite happy with my experience. The lesson plans are neatly and intuitively organized, and allow you to go at your own pace. It was nice to see that usually less-covered areas such as phonology are discussed during the course. At the end of all the chapters there are various review games, including suggestions for actual activities to utilize in the classroom, which is a nice touch. The tests and quizzes that were given intermittently intermittently did a good job of covering the material, and the instructor I was assigned always graded them in a punctual manner and consistently offered helpful feedback on my assignments. The comprehensive job placement section is quite impressive as well. All in all, an experience that I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about teaching English around the world.

After personally taking the 250-hour online diploma I have no hesitation in recommending this for a thorough increase in grammar, methodology and phonology proficiency for teaching english second language. The course was well paced, covered a variety of material, and built confidence in being an ESL teacher. Having already 2 years of teaching experience in Korea, I was curious to see how much I could learn from this course. The truth is, the material learned in this course cannot be learned in a classroom. In addition, I took this diploma to open up doors for higher quality teaching positions. And sure enough, a University job came up, that REQUIRED a Tesol and confirmed the value in taking this course.

The 100 hour course was a really good investment and a good introduction to TESOL. I believe they’ve added a practicum option (20 in class hours), which I didn’t get a chance to do, but I imagine would add a lot to the experience. The course material was more challenging than I expected, which was a good thing—you are not just paying for a certificate, but for real knowledge. For someone who was quite new to both teaching and ESL, I feel I gained a good introduction to methodology, how to write a lesson plan from scratch, and many good lesson ideas, from games to classroom management. The 100-hr course is not particularly in-depth, but VERY good for learning the basics before doing something like teaching English in South Korea! They are also friendly and helpful recruiters for EPIK.

I have really enjoyed the course which was enlightening and challenging. It has given me a better insight to my teaching experience. I found the 250-hour course online extremely well-structured. The theory in the three modules was put into practice by the assignments and by the lesson plans which were thoroughly commented by the tutor. Her feedback was always prompt and very constructive. The whole staff is always there to help whatever your needs are. I am so glad I have taken this course. I strongly recommend it!

The ONTESOL 100 hour course is very detailed and informative to bring an ESL teacher up to a competent and well prepared instructor.I found the material to be extremely organised with the right flow for learning. Grammer and pronounciation, with the associated phonics, was a good foundation for the upcoming lesson plans. I expecially liked the reading and clasroom management sections, where I’m able to apply them into my future role as an ESL teacher.Preparing the assignments, including the lesson plans, gave me a good grasp of the material studied for practical applications. It balanced the course from studies to practical use of all subject matter.I found my tutor, Ainley, to be a strong instructor with a great knowledge of the material and personal experiences as an ESL teacher. She was able to give me valuable insight for approaching the assignments and just as important, presenting the lessons to future students.I found ONTESOL delivered well above what they advertise and I was very impressed and satisfied with the outcome. The ONTESOL organisation is professional and timely, so the pace of the course met my requirements. I highly recommend ONTESOL as a source for obtaining a TESOL certification and the training needed to meet requirements and skill sets for being an ESL teacher.

This was the first time I’d taken an online course, and I have to say I was very impressed. The three sections are very well thought out and the material is extensive. Before taking the course I was completely unsure of myself as a teacher of foreign languages. Afterwards, I felt confident and prepared to start teaching English in Korea. I think the practicum part was probably the most useful to me. For sure the online portion of the course was useful and I still refer back to the material today. For any first time teachers though, the hardest part is just getting up in front of people and feeling relaxed enough that the students feel relaxed and can learn. That is what the practicum portion of this course gave me – the ability to feel comfortable in front of the class. This class has everything needed to make you into a good teacher, take it seriously and accept the constructive criticism with an open mind and you will be able to take the materials and lessons with you no matter where you go.

Being educated in English immersion and having spoken English through most of my life, I never knew I had so much to learn until I took the Ontesol Course. The good old English grammar has changed since the last time I was at school and I was left dumbfounded of the amount of work I had to do. I am so glad I did, because within weeks of starting the course I found a job as an ESL teacher. I had a wonderful tutor who was sincere, knowledgeable and patient with me. He replied in no time and was very much interested in my lesson plans.Oh yes, those lesson plans are amazing, it is not possible not to learn if you do those plans right. I am implementing them in my class every time and I get so many positive remarks from the management as well as from my students. Highly recommended course.

The 100-hour online TESOL course from Ontesol was exactly what I was looking for in terms of curriculum, instructor support, and value. The course has a great balance between theory and production. The grammar and phonology module provided great, in-depth review, and the methodology module gave me the opportunity to put what I was learning into practice by writing actual lesson plans. My tutor was very thorough and enthusiastic in his feedback, and answered my e-mails quickly. Having completed the course, I feel much more confident in my abilities to plan lessons and work with my students.

I started the course without much idea on how it it was going to be. But when I saw the materials, I said to myself, “This gonna be like real!” I chose OnTesol as I felt and understood from the start that it is something good. Modular questions or assignments or tasks that led to self-awareness for better understanding of what you want when you are in a class or when you have your own class. The teachers are not simply commenting on assignments but they really give options on how to correct them. You can really feel that you are connected with your tutors and that will give you much delight. You will not mind when you are corrected because by these corrections you will come up with a better work.I am very glad to have taken OnTesol TESOL and TEYL courses and I know I will feel so great and proud once our postman bring in my certificates. So, without any doubt, I strongly recommend OnTesol TESOL and TEYL studies as part of your teaching ambition.

This course was quite comprehensive. After taking this course, one can feel confident that they have at least the BASE level skills necessary to be an ESL teacher. The three modules all cover the necessary aspects, including grammar, phonology, and methodology. One may find the phonemes quite helpful in future classes, as surprisingly enough, quite a few teachers do not seem to know them. The methodology was particularly helpful in my case. It provides a basic template for you to apply your chosen topic to, and this will allow you to structure your future classes upon this template. This is especially good for those with little or no experience teaching, as it gives them the framework to base the class upon. I believe that this is one of the best online certifications for TESOL that you can find. The fact that it’s recognized by ACTDEC, was one of the reasons that I decided to go with this particular course. The tutor was quite helpful as well, providing plenty of in-depth feedback on each lesson and constructive criticism which I believe will be quite helpful in my future course formulations.

This was a very good 100-hour distance-learning course. I want people to know that the reason there are so many reviews for Ontesol is because after you finish the course, they kindly request that you publish a review on this site. I think this is rather important information for people who decide which course to take based on this website. The 100 hour course itself is 3 modules of 60-100 page PDFs that you must read through and then complete specific assignments. There are no videos or multimedia, but the true strength of the course lies in the tutors. My tutor always responded within 24 hours and even during the weekends. The feedback was genuinely helpful and comprehensive. This course does have decent standards as they don’t simply hand out the certificate. You must pass every assignment and all 3 modules to receive the cert. With that said, this is a very decent distance-learning course, however, without the in-person practicum, its value is weakened. In terms of qualifications, generally many employers will not consider online certificates, or courses without a practical component. This course can deepen your understanding of the theory of TESOL, but it is generally not what employers are seeking in their teaching candidates. My conclusion is: base your decision on whether you are using this course to deepen your knowledge of TESOL, or to actually augment your qualifications. If it is the latter, I would explore some other options with a practical component (maybe even their 250-hour course?)

From start to finish, from administrators to instructors, I was deeply impressed with the 250-hour diploma program, and so glad I selected it. The course in its entirety was intelligently designed by an experienced group of educators. Everything about its organization seemed to flow smartly, and I could feel my depth of knowledge and capacity grow with the completion of each chapter and module. The resources provided with the course were copious and tremendously helpful — a veritable treasure trove of information for continuous reference for teachers. My instructor/tutor was really good, her experience and capability clear throughout. She was always there with the right insight and suggestion for how to improve my thought process and lesson planning. In sum, I would recommend this course to anyone.

The 100 hour course provided me with a great introduction to teaching methodology. I’ve learnt so much about how to design lesson plans, as well as how to connect with students on a very real level. The best part was having a tutor that was very accessible and provided feedback in a timely manner that helped me improve my understanding of the field of English language instruction. I would definitely recommend this course for any looking to make a start in the field.

I have had a great experience with OnTESOL’s 100-hour online program, and would definitely recommend OnTESOL to anyone looking for online TESOL certificate programs. When looking into online TESOL certificate courses, I found that there were a lot of options, and it was difficult to choose one. Upon seeing that OnTESOL’s certificate is one of the only (if not the only) certificates accredited by the UK Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses. While that may not mean much to some, the fact that it was accredited at all made it stand out. So, I read the reviews on https://www.teflcoursereview.com/ and found a number of very positive reviews. I also specifics about the course, that it teaches and tests on grammar, phonology, and methodology, as well as teaching about general learning skills. Not only do they teach you about those things, they teach you how to teach and incorporate them into lessons.
Well, my long and arduous search for the best online course was worthwhile in the end, since I definitely made the right choice with OnTESOL. My tutor was very responsive, helpful, and positive. Also, the texts are generally very clear and practical, teaching you things you will actually use. The learning skills reminded me that learning itself is a skill, one that you can improve on. The sections on grammar and phonology were clear and informative. I have always had above-average knowledge of the English language and general linguistics, so I didn’t expect to learn much from those two sections. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn all that I did in those two sections. As for the methodology course, they teach you how to make complete lessons plans that integrate the communicative method, showing you how to do it from the ground up. I have been teaching in different areas over the past few years, and still I learned all sorts of new and interesting things about teaching English as well as teaching in general. Along the way, my tutor, Danielle, was always there to answer any and all questions I had in regards to each section, explaining clearly and informatively, and responding in a timely manner. With my experience in mind, I would definitely recommend this course and OnTESOL in general to anyone looking for the best online TESOL learning experience.

Even though I received my MA in English Linguistics, I still did not feel qualified enough to teach ESL when I was employed by a language academy here in the states. Therefore, I looked for an online TESOL certification program. After reading the reviews for OnTesol, I decided to go with them. I think overall the program was fine. It has been a few months since I completed the program and I do not remember much of what I did. What I found to be the most helpful though was the feedback I received from the instructor who was assigned to work with me. She was quick to respond to my emails and she provided me with very useful comments. If you need to get a 100-hour certificate, I think this program is a good choice. However, you will not actually learn until you are in the classroom.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the course. I was a bit skeptical at first because I’m a Ph.D. engineering graduate student and have never taken an online course before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I initially picked the 100 hr. ontesol course because I noticed that they included modules for grammar and phonology which many other online courses do not include. I’m glad that I got the chance to re-learn these English basics in preparation for teaching. The three modules were very thorough and interesting. The lesson planning portion of the methodology module was practical and I expect will be highly useful when I start teaching. My tutor got back to me with insightful feedback very quickly throughout the course and the admin were very responsive as well. Everything was well organized and I really have no complaints. I highly recommend ontesol if you’re serious about teaching English well.

I found this program incredibly informative, and useful. It provided a good overview of English grammar and phonetics, then backs it up with ideas how you can apply it to lesson plans. The final section, making a lesson plan, was definitely the most useful part of the program to me. It gave me tonnes of ideas on how I can teach English to a variety of different demographics, as well as provided me with a good sense of how to control the class.
The philosophy the program provided is new, and I think a very good one for both the teacher and the students. It makes sense to have the students learn how to actually use a language rather than learn it using a direct method. Furthermore, the methods shown in the lesson planning section show how to make the students more active, and, as a result, more interested in the subject at hand. I definitely like the methods that this course is promoting.
Finally, the tutor that I received was absolutely amazing. She has been doing ESL teaching for a long time, and it showed through her feedback, and advice. When I had a questions she was able to give an informative answer within a reasonable amount of time. Likewise, when it came to marking assignments she did so very efficiently, and left a lot of useful feedback. She provided comments on my assignments about ideas that I may have overlooked, or would provide me with an alternative method that I could use in the future.
Overall, I had an amazing experience with this course, and feel confident in the skills that this 100-hour online course has taught me. I would gladly recommend this course to anyone else that is interested in teaching English as a second language.

I took the 100 hour on-tesol course in order to obtain a qualification for my CV before travelling to South America. I was very impressed with both the course material and the tutor. He responded to all my emails with very helpful advice on my assignments and answered any other questions I had. Because the course is very flexible I was able to do the assignments on my own time and didn’t feel under pressure at any point. I would recommend this course to anyone considering doing an online TEFL course.

I completed the 100 hour course. I found the course material to be of a very high standard, providing the right amount of information without any overload. The assignments were interesting and thought provoking, and from the beginning of the course you are encouraged to think of the practicalities of teaching in a classroom situation. The lesson plan assignments really give you an insight into your role as a teacher and the tutor’s feedback makes for a great learning expierence by pointing out where there is potential to improve upon the student’s learning expierence. Very quick turnaround by the tutor in marking up the assignments, which was appreciated. Overall a highly enjoyable expierence which I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone interested in embarking on a TEFL teaching course. Thank you ONTESOL.

Everything about Ontesol was very good. I appreciate the time my tutor took to answer questions and add comments on the assignments. The material was extraordinary, with lots of information and challenging assignments. The job centre has about 100 posts and there is a list with tons of schools and resources. This is amazing for the $315 I paid for!

This was my first online/distance education experience. Being summer and working relatively full-time, I thought it would be very difficult to accomplish the entire course, but wanted to give it a shot anyways. The material was extremely engaging and kept me wanting to learn more. It was also challenging and I learned a great deal of new things that I had perhaps heard about, but never got the chance to learn about in greater detail (concerning grammar and phonology). Responses to assignments or even general inquires were all generally within 24 hours. Feedback on assignments were always detailed and really helped me improve. I would definitely recommend the 100-hour course, as I think I gained a great deal of knowledge from it that will be helpful in the future.

The course itself was very useful and touched upon many things that I had questions on. Okay, so one thing you must know as you read reviews is that most people who review, like me, do it once. We do not have comparative data. We did not attend many schools to actually compare one to another. This is my only review since I won’t take the same course twice somewhere else. That being said I recommend onTESOL.Dedication: The time my teacher spent providing insights and helping me overall was greatly above expectations. My teacher answered me on the weekends. Do not expect this as a norm since it is not. But I mention it to show the dedication and time she took with me. Answers were quick to come and very detailed. If my teacher billed me hourly I would have received a bill far larger than what I paid for the course. Value: If you do not have much experience or formal training to teach then believe me when I say that you need to take a course such as onTESOL. It will open your eyes. Show you what needs to be done, how to do it and generally prep you for this great journey that is teaching. The course is very well laid out, the communicative methodology well presented and overall you finish the course confident that you are equipped to become a good teacher.Material: The material is top notch I would say. The teachers are above that. If an example showed you ‘abc’ then you could count on the teacher providing you with ‘abcde’ to complement it on request. This organization caters well to its customers. You are not left alone. Also, it is not that easy. I had to rewrite most assignment before I could get it right. Lesson Plans, the essential tool of any teacher, are taught to you well: and you’ll pass only if have mastered them. Today I can write good lesson plans and feel confident about being a good teacher. I can walk into a classroom and provide excellent value armed with state of the art lesson plans and methodologies. Conclusion: onTESOL doesn’t give away its certificate. You have to really work at it to get one. They are valuable.Today I’m confident that I can be a great teacher. I have been taught the skills and method to be so. Ask yourself this: when you walk into a classroom for 90 minutes, what do you do specifically? Can you write it down in details? What are you actually going to teach and how? onTESOL would have a hard time providing more value than they do. I highly recommend them if you want a teacher that cares and a certificate that actually means something. These guys are for real. The value is extraordinary. No doubts its not the only school that’s great but I would not try another one if I had to. Go for it!

I liked the focus on the Communicative Approach, stressing the use of authentic material. If I were to learn a second language I would appreciate the lesson developing along these guidelines. As a retired teacher I am surprised at how much I learned.

OnTesol’s 100-hour online TESOL program has really helped me in preparing for teaching English abroad. Before I started the program I had no clue as to how I should teach and what activities or methods were most effective for student learning. However, as I went through the program my questions and apprehensions were resolved and I began building confidence in my ability to teach. I had a few years of teaching experience when I signed up, and I wasn’t expecting to learn a lot from a teaching course at that stage in my career, but the OnTesol program was such a pleasant surprise! The course material was interesting, complete with examples, and the assignments were practical but open-ended so I really got to try out what I had learned. My lessons have changed for the better since I took this course and I’d highly recommend it to any foreign language teacher.

After researching and reviewing TESOL courses locally, as well as online, I made the decision to take the 100 hour online TESOL program with Ontesol. I have to say that it was a great investment. The quality of material is high and quite relevant. My tutor was always available for questions and gave the most thorough, in depth, feedback for my assignments. Lesson planning, in the methodology chapter, is such a valuable tool for any teacher. I was really pleased with my experience and would highly recommend Ontesol.

I had to get TESL Canada certified and Ontesol seemed right for me after considering accreditation, experience, flexibility, and price. The methodology module covers everything about teaching and does so in a very practical manner. The assignments were crucial to learn how to meet the objectives for every stage of a lesson. Thanks to these assignments and the support of my tutor, I learned how to present a topic, create activities, and use tools communicatively. There were a few other tasks that helped me reflect on different methods and the grammar and phonology courses were very important but I would say that the 20 assignments were the most valuable. Last, the practicum was very important to obtain the experience I was lacking and learn how to follow the steps I had planned with confidence. I would recommend Ontesol to everyone.

Having a tutor made a big difference for me because I never took an online course so I was a bit scared at first. Overall a pretty solid experience. It should be noted that I took both the 100-hour TESOL course, as well as the 60-hour TEYL course. Both Instructors for my classes had extensive backgrounds in ESL with 19+years of experience, and around 30 years of experience respectively.
Course content was pretty useful, and I will be referring back to it as I begin my career as a Teacher. The quality of feedback was also excellent. The Instructors especially took the time to critique the assigned sample lesson plans, and gave pointers on how to better organize a class.
One thing to note is that with online classes, Job Placement can be hard. They have a database, but I have found work privately. Also, keep in mind that nothing can be substituted for real-life practice, so be prepared to make some mistakes and learn from them.

A 5 stars experience! I chose the 100-hour program after I spent about a week researching among schools from Canada and America. The office responded quickly the first time and continued to answer all of my questions in a very short time and in a very professional manner at every turn. The grammar and phonology modules are excellent resources that will be useful for years to come and the methodology module gets to the heart of teaching, with a lot of theory and practice that helped me understand how to meet the needs of my students using interactive lesson plans. My tutor, Kathy, was also very important for my success and I am very thankful for her support.

    The course is great!
I spent weeks trying to find a good online course. I definitely made the right choice. All the staff is very professional and friendly. I was impressed with the administration office which responded promptly to all my questions. As for my tutor Claudia, she was very encouraging and graded my assignment in less than 24 hours.
As a non native English speaker I was quite nervous about taking the course, but all the modules are very easy to understand and very well structured.
I truly felt like I was preparing for my first day as a teacher from the very beginning of the course.
The last module which is lesson planning was very challenging, but it was also my favorite part of the course. I liked that it forced me to be creative and think outside the box.
    I definitely learned a lot.
Do not hesitate to take the course. It is absolutely great!

I truly enjoyed the online 100-hour course offered by OnTesol. Not only were the modules, assignments, tasks, and exams interesting and thought-provoking, but I feel that they have better prepared me for teaching English abroad. I never realized before how much I took for granted with respect to English, and I am glad that I took this course to better understand the English language. Moreover, my tutor (Junesse) was very helpful and taught me a lot through her detailed suggestions, comments, and answers to my questions. Overall, this course provided a lot of useful information, like a detailed revision of English grammar, phonology, and numerous methods by which to teach English. I especially liked that I was given the opportunity to come up with my own lesson plans, as I had never made a lesson plan before. I am confident that this experience, too, will aid me in teaching English abroad. If you’re planning on teaching English in another country, I would definitely recommend taking a course offered by OnTesol; you won’t regret it.

I enjoyed the TESOL course greatly! I found the online course very comprehensive, informative and helpful in developing thorough teaching strategies and lesson plans. One thing to remember, keep an eye on your course deadline, the course has to be completed within 3 months! The grammar section helped me understand the student’s perspective of learning a foreign language and the phonology section informed me of how complex(messy) the English language can be to learn for foreign learners. The Methodology section is very informative and I completely support the communicative approach of lesson structures and planning. In the future I will always consider the philosophy of the communicative approach that I learned in this course.

I registered in the 100-hour course back in 2009. I was applying for a position in South Korea when my recruiter recommended taking a TEFL course in order to qualify for a higher pay level. Ontesol’s course was excellent and I was very well prepared when I stepped into my first lesson.I had previously taught private lessons to Korean students so I thought that, as a native speaker with prior teaching experience, I knew it all. The grammar and phonology modules have a lot of valuable information that native speakers don’t usually know, but the most important module was methodology. The lesson planning assignments challenged me to become a very interactive teacher and my tutor provided excellent comments on how to properly use the communicative approach. He especially took the time to advise me how this method can be applied to Korean students as he taught in South Korea many years ago. Thanks to Ontesol and my tutor, I had a great experience in Korea. I will seriously consider upgrading to their 250-hour TESOL or Trinity program before I go on another TESOL odyssey!

Before choosing Ontesol, I also read the reviews found on this website. I am so happy that I chose this particular program. My tutor would respond within 24 hours when ever I had a question; my tutor also provided extensive feedback, not just one-liners. I learned a lot and I feel more competent to teach abroad. I would also like to mention how great the Ontesol office is at getting back to you. I thought it might take 2-3 days to get a response, but it almost always occurred the same day! The program is excellent, and it really provides you with stimulating and edifying material. I want to thank everyone at Ontesol for being so honest and professional. When I called, the staff did not try to sell me the more expensive course, took the time to explain the differences between each course, and helped me find the one that fit my needs. Indeed, the 100-hour course provided me with a solid foundation for feeling confident in the classroom and the necessary qualifications for starting my career in Latin America.Last, my tutor was very important to me because he helped me understand how to apply the Communicative Approach in a very creative manner. Simply put, this is a fantastic course.I’ve been traveling abroad for some time now, and I was recomended to this program by a fellow Canadian traveler. Now, I’m sure you’ve noticed that there is a huge selection of different TESOL/ TEFL courses available online. The choice can be daunting, and honestly, not all courses are built alike. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect because i have never done anything like this before but, this course was great! I started out just asking a few questions about it, and they really bolster the experience! My online tutor was detailed, very supportive, and a really great guy! He answered all the questions i might have had, and worked with me on the different Modules for the course. There was no pressure to quickly finnish assignments. I felt as though i got to work at my own pace. I also learned not just about how to teach the language, but how individual people learn in different ways. And let me tell you that has already helped out a lot!If you are debating at all, about which course to take, pick this one. I’m very happy I did.

I completed my TEFL course at Ontesol (100 hours) and I highly recommend it. This course fit perfect to my schedule and budget. Teaching experience is very important but I did not have the funds to take an expensive in-class course or teaching practice module, so I volunteered at a community center. This way I learned to prepare strong lesson plans online and then got some teaching experience for free. I received excellent feedback from my students and the manager of the center because of my interactive lessons. Thank you Ontesol! I’m ready to teach abroad now!

I’m very pleased with my experience at Coventry House International and Ontesol. I couldn’t take the full-time Trinity course because of work so I went for the online/practicum option. It took me just under 4 months to complete all 250 hours of online study plus the 20-hour practicum. I found the grammar and phonology modules to be great resources. The most important part was methodology, where there are about 20 lesson plan assignments and many more short tasks with video observations. I studied the online modules at my own pace and I took my time to ask as many questions as were necessary. I always felt that my tutor was there for me because she took her time to reply with very inspiring comments that helped me improve my lesson planning. Their job placement service is alright. They only help to apply directly to schools for South Korea and you get a list of schools and recruiters for other countries.

If you don’t already have teaching experience, this is a not the way to learn how to teach esl. The written materials are not great, although the instructor I had was friendly and proficient. Response time to assignments was not what they advertised. You can pass with high marks (as I did) and be pretty certain you are unprepared to teach esl. I have a background in teaching English and writing to native speakers at the University level, so I feel vaguely confident I can find my way. But without my extensive background in teaching this would have been a waste of time.

I did not expect so much assistance in the program. There were many times where an understanding of the tasks and assignments were not always clear to me; however, my Ontesol tutor was gracious and helpful when she pointed out, corrected and gave thorough details to what the expectation was. Furthermore, she always encouraged me and reminded me that I was on the right track. Although I had only been in contact with my tutor through email correspondence, I felt a genuine student-teacher relationship throughout the several months I have been working on my ESL certification. The tasks and assignments were certainly challenging, but I was never doubtful of my ability to complete them due to the wealth of information provided by Ontesol.I feel much more assured and confident in my ability to be an ESL teacher no matter where I go thanks to what I learned from the Ontesol program. I whole-heartedly recommend this program to anyone who feels like choosing a career with limitless avenues and directions to go.

I took the 100-hour TESOL and upgraded to the 250-hour course a year later and I can testify that Ontesol is top of the line. From introductory to advanced, Ontesol is the best TESOL course provider in the world. A 20-hour Practicum is also available to those who need supervised teaching experience. Their job placement service and information service is very helpful. My certificate has been welcomed with open arms in Korea, Thailand, and Canada.

My name is Ann and I have already completed my Masters of Teaching, however I was looking to do a supportive online course to qualify to teach English as a Second Language. The 100- hour online TESOL program helped me improve my language skills – through very practical assignments. My online tutor was very supportive and gave me extensive feedback in order to improve my teaching methods. I would recommend the course to any one who is looking to teach English as a Second Language in the future.

Ontesol is a great college to start your ESL career. I’m very satisfied with the level of training and the tutor that was provided to me. Apart from the marking, Mike provided me with great comments and a lot of advice for improving my teaching. The lesson plan assignments were spot on. I recommend Ontesol’s 100-hour course to everybody. It’s worth much more than the $275 tuition fee I paid for this course. I certainly got my money worth considering that a CELTA program is 10 times more expensive.

This was my first experience with an online course of any type. The quality of instruction, course content, and instructor assistance was excellent!!!!! I had some difficulties completing the last 2 Lesson Plans on time due to the political unrest here in Thailand that interrupted Internet access but after talking this over with Claudia, my instructor, I was allowed some extra time to complete these assignments. Thanks for your help, Claudia!!! The Methodology Module was the most challenging Module but, after completing it, my level of performance was greatly improved. My transition from HVAC Engineer/Accountant to English Teacher has been made much easier because of this course. The only drawback is the reality of actually teaching in a foreign country and the culture shock that I have experienced.Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be taught online, or for that fact, it cannot be taught anywhere or in any setting. This is part of the learning curve we all experience teaching in another culture. ONTESOL is a very professional organization and comes highly recommended. Keep up the great work ONTESOL!!!

The 100-hour course at Ontesol opened many doors and prepared me for a very challenging job in China. After talking with my co-workers who had poor or no prior qualification at all, I started to value Ontesol even more because teaching a class of 63 Chinese teenagers can be overwhelming if you are not prepared. I highly recommend Ontesol to those who are starting their teaching career and are looking for a reputable online course. I’m a happy and returning client. Now that I’m back in Canada, I will upgrade to Trinity TESOL with their partner school.

I have really enjoyed the whole ONTESOL experience. I spent a long time researching different online courses and the ONTESOL course was the most comprehensive. I had no prior teaching experience and felt that this was a good way to get an insight into what TESL is all about without having to commit myself to perhaps a year or more of formal teacher training. I feel that the course has a balanced approach to different teaching techniques and the Grammar and Phonology modules are well thought out and detailed. My tutor, Carl, was incredibly dedicated and responded quickly to my many questions, even when I interrupted his weekends. His answers were always concise and instructive as well encouraging and I really feel that I have learnt a lot, both from the course and from Carl’s comments and guidance. For anyone new to teaching who can’t afford to have a sudden career change by going back to college full-time, I think this course will be entirely suitable, especially as it provides the practicum option which will provide the full “teaching experience”. I can’t wait to put it all into practice.

My experience at Ontesol was fantastic and the 100 hours course was also very affordable for all the value I got. The office replied to my inquiries in a few hours and their excellent service did not stop when I enrolled. My tutor was very helpful and the coursework pushed me to be a creative teacher. I’m giving Ontesol 5 stars for all categories except job placement, which is still ok because I was directed to an agency that helped me line up a good job in Japan free of charge.

I was completely satisfied with the 250 hour course. I already had many years experience teaching ESL and was interested in updating my qualifications, but needed to find a TESL Canada approved course that fit my full-time teaching schedule. Being online, ONTESOL.COM allowed me to work at my own pace, and the content was an excellent mix of well-organized, clear lessons and personal support from a tutor who checked the homework and tests. I learned new ways of teaching subjects I´d been teaching for years. I would recommend the course to anyone.

    I’ve had a first-rate experience with ONTESOL. I took the 100-hour course,
and felt that all of the course content was entirely relevant, particularly
for someone completely new to teaching English. As for me, the Methodology
module, which provided practice in developing lesson plans, was the most
challenging and informative part of the course. What really impressed me the most however was my tutor, Ainsley. I’ve
completed a lot of classroom as well as a couple online courses in the past,
but the feedback and support that she provided was unparalleled. Not only
were my assignments graded in record time, but I also received what was
perhaps the most detailed and useful comments on my work, ever! I have
absolutely no regrets bout choosing ONTESOL and I would highly recommend the
100-hour course to anyone who’s hoping to head into the TESOL/TEFL world.

My tutor was very friendly, responsive and encouraging. Whatever questions I had, she provided me with thorough answers and additional links for further reading and study. It was to my benefit to have had a tutor with so many years of teaching experience who could guide me through the course.I would highly recommend Ontesol to anyone who is considering taking an online TESOL course. The staff are professional, the tutor is excellent in her knowledge of course material and the course itself offers great ideas for use in the classroom. I look forward to using what I’ve learned with Ontesol in the classrooms in Shanghai where I plan to teach.

I am a French teacher and have the opportunity of teaching ESL at the International school where I work but felt I needed a bit more training in English in spite of the fact that I have been teaching for many years.
I enrolled in the 100 hour Ontesol course and have found it very interesting and stimulating. This was my first on/line course. The course material to be down loaded was interesting, with plenty of new, fresh ideas and the tutor I worked with was fast with her feedback and gave me plenty of suggestions to think about.
The course material was well put together and every chapter has practice questions which are usefull.
All in all, a good experience and I found it a great advantage being able to time my work and do the assignments whenever it was convenient to me, so even with a full time job, the course was manageable.

I wished I took the 250-hour program before starting my teaching career in Korea back in 2007 as there is an enormous difference between this program and the introductory course I took at another institution.
-My tutor, Kathleen, was very experience. She guided me through the program at every step and provided excellent feedback to every assignment.
-The course was very interactive, with tasks that included video class observations and intensive assignments that prepared me to create real lesson plans.
-The staff was excellent and helped me set up my practicum in Korea without any extra cost so I could return to Canada and start teaching right away.
I highly recommend Ontesol to anyone who is interested in becoming a professional ESL teacher!

OnTesol is a wonderful educational program for both those seeking ESL jobs and those who simply want education in English grammar, phonology, and teaching methods. Through this program I received a certificate that will benefit me for future teaching opportunities abroad. There are so many things that are beneficial about this program, including revision of English grammar, phonology, numerous methods by which to teach English and providing me with information about ESL job opportunities after completion of the course. There is so much I have learned through this program and so many opportunities it will provide me. I am so thankful to the tutors OnTesol has on hand, providing good ideas for lesson planning, providing constructive criticism and honest feedback that helped me understand and complete the course in a comfortable manner. The course time was perfect as it gave me enough time to complete all the required tasks without rushing
and rather learning and working at my own pace. It was a great experience.Thank you OnTesol staff!

I first took the 100-hour course with TEYL and was amazed at how much I learned. My tutor answered my questions in less than 24 hours and made excellent comments on my assignments. I had just graduated from university and didn’t expect that an online teacher training course would be so dynamic. I’ve been teaching in Costa Rica for 9 months while I continued with the 250-hour course and just got a job offer from Australia!! :). From my experience, I believe that it’s necessary to take a TESOL course before getting a job and I have recommended Ontesol to my co-workers and will continue to do so because they provided me with an excellent education as well as they’ve been very professional in counseling me about different teaching destinations.

I began the course after a year’s experience teaching English in Japan. My co-workers thought it was an odd decision to invest time and money in getting a teaching certificate after already having a job (and a very good one, I must say) but I always enjoy studying and I thought that getting proper teaching training can’t hurt my self-confidence nor my resume. And so I decided to go for it.I chose this course over hundreds of other accredited online courses since its syllabus, its length and its price were what I was looking for, and since I had a good feeling about it when I read through the website. I hoped it was a good choice. Now that I’ve completed the course, I can say it for sure – it was an excellent choice! I’m so glad I took this course. It was interesting, enjoyable and challenging, and I’ve learned so much from each and every one of its parts. Since I’ve been teaching at the same time I could actually see my improvement right away and it felt amazing to use in my lessons all I’ve been taught in the course. As I hoped, both my teaching skills and my confidence as a teacher have improved significantly. I was very happy with the way the course is organized and with its content. As for the tutor, Claudia, I couldn’t ask for a better guidance as she was always there, sharing ideas and giving advice in her special super-professional, yet personal, way. I can’t thank her enough for that.Bottom line: if you’re looking for a good, professional, interesting, reasonably-priced accredited online TESOL course – you’ve found it.

I took some online courses for accounting at university and professors didn’t provide half the support that my tutor provided at Ontesol. I took the 100-hour Ontesol course in order to learn and to get a formal qualification for my C.V.
Language schools here in Istanbul are familiar with the Ontesol course and regard it as a good one. I found the course better than I expected. The course materials are excellent. The tutor whom I had, Claudia, was expert in both English and in teaching English. She was always there to help with any questions and corrected assignments giving lots of explanation about what was good and what was not-so-good. You can also re-do the assignment after this input and increase your score. Taking the course on-line gives you great flexibility. You can work on it whenever you want, even wherever you want. There is plenty of time to finish the course. I am a very happy customer.

I took the 250-hour course and I was very pleased with the course content, organization, administration, and tutoring. ONTESOL delivered on its promises. Administration responded promptly and professionally. Being in Foreign Language teaching for almost 20 years, I was impressed with the course content. It was both concise and comprehensive. I particularly appreciated the grammar and phonology sections and references. Regarding my tutor, I was very impressed by his professional competence and linguistic ability. He is a most talented writer! I bombarded him with questions of minutia and forwarded assignments in bursts. He seemed to take it all in stride. He made me feel at ease and guided me well through my challenges. Perhaps most importantly, my tutor managed to bridge the virtual gap to become a real person rather than a black and white email response to my queries. I’m not sure how he did this, but I am thankful and commend him for his skill in this regard.

I have to say I truly enjoyed the readings, the task and assignments.
Before starting this course I was somewhat arrogant in my attitude, having
taught English in Korea for six years already. I was unsure of how much I
would benefit from the material. Not only was the course interesting, but
it quickly uncovered some misconceptions I had had regarding English
grammar and it refined my teaching techniques. I now have more confidence
and feel that I can do a more worthy job in my classes. This course also
despelled the doubts I had regarding online courses, which I used to think
    may not be worthy

I was impressed with the organization of the course, both the admin office and my
tutor were quick to respond to any queries i had. With regards to my tutor I thought that the support she gave me throughout the course was excellent and the comments she offered when marking my assignments were insightful and helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a reputable online TEFL course

This course, the full course with the three modules, was simply fantastic! Being my first on-line learning experience, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. But with seven years of teaching experience, I had never expected anything so interesting, challenging, and enlightening. Practice oriented tasks and assignments filled with helpful tips and super feedback made the work inspiring. I am definitely a better teacher now. Ontesol offers a first-rate course that I can confidently recommend to anyone looking for further qualifications in the ESL field or simply wanting to solidify their proficiency in teaching.
